Leah Kohlenberg has been a painter and pastelist for two decades and is currently based in Portland, Oregon. She is primarily self taught, though she’s taken classes at the Gage Academy and Pacific Northwest College of Art and at the Art Students League of New York. She also spent five years in Eastern Europe studying painting and drawing privately with artists in Budapest, Hungary; in Yerevan, Armenia; and in Zagreb, Croatia. She is currently represented by Fairweather Gallery in Seaside, Oregon; and by Salty Teacup Gallery and Boutique in Portland, Oregon. She has juried in as a Portland Open Studio artist every year between 2015 and 2020, and currently serves as chairman of the board.
She has had solo shows at the Hadas Gallery in New York; at the Muevelti Terulet Gallery in Budapest, and at the American Embassy in Yerevan, Armenia, among others. Her art is in private collections around the world. She was awarded a Regional Arts and Culture Council grant to publish her first book, The Roaming Studio Step-by-Step Guide to Drawing
Faces, released in early 2016. She also offers an art at work program, designed to bring drawing and painting to non artists in the workplace.
