Having spent two decades as a self-taught artist, I’ve always followed my own path. Preferring to gain inspiration through personal experience and varying cultures, I traveled extensively to study art around the world before devoting several years to refining my skills at the Savannah College of Art & Design, and the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Though I have called many places home over the years, I only ever really meant it about Portland, Oregon.
In my work I use up to 81 layers of colored paper to create intricate images with depth. My style ranges from fairytale illustrations, ornate decorative design, otherworldly landscapes, to the organic patterns in nature. Each layer of my originals are hand-cut using an xacto blade, building them up from 2D drawings into bas-relief sculptures. I then reproduce them as lasercut editions and artist books, so that everyone can bring these delicate windows into abstracted worlds home with them.
